As a junior administrator of your company, you have been asked ask to move the printer spool off the system partition and onto another hard disk to solve disk space issues. How will you move printer spooow l to another drive?

A. From command prompt, type "move c:\winnt\system32\spool\printe
rs [Desired Location]".
B. From command prompt, type "move c:\winnt\spool\printers [Desired Location]".
C. From the Advanced tab of Printer Properties.
D. Configure your Print$ share on your computer to point to the desired location.

The suggested answer is C, but I read the article from Microsoft Knowledge Base, it should be as below :

To change the location of the spool folder for all printers:

1. Log on to the computer as Administrator, or as a member of the Administrators group.

2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Printers.

3. On the File menu, click Server Properties.

4. Click the Advanced tab.

5. In the Spool folder box, type the complete path to the new spool folder location. If the new spool folder does not exist, this procedure creates it.
NOTE: Do not use the root folder of a drive (for example, E:\) as the new spool folder. You must specify a folder (for example, E:\NewSpoolFolder or E:\Path\NewSpoolFolder). If you use the root of the drive and you do not specify a new spool folder, the default %SystemRoot%\System32\Spool\Pr
inters folder is used.

So, I think C is wrong, how about D, it is correct. I know there is a Print$ share, but I don't know what is the purpose of Print$ share. Anyone know about this, please help me.. Thanks.

Hello

I'm not sure that it is acceptible etiquette to ask questions about braindumps but I think you will that the available answers that you have presented is inadequate. If you look for a more up to date dump you may get a better set of answers.

Braindumps are questions taken from the real MCSE exam. They are disapproved of by many people who believe that proper study is the best way to prepare for the exam.

The question you asked is best answered by changing the location of the spool file, and you would do this by going to the Printer Server Properties (right click in you printers folder or [File]->[Server Properties] in the Printers Folder. Then on the Advanced Tab you can type in the Spooler Folder that you want.

What I want to discuss is about Print$ Administrative Share issue.
I found it , PRINT$ is required for remote printer administration.

I done my research, I think all the choices are wrong.

Correct answer should be : Set from the Advanced tab of Server Properties.

Do you agree that..

gcw123: it looks like C sounds alot like microsoft's answer.

you sure its not accessing the same controls from different route? these days there are often 3 different ways to perform the same task, so debating if the C answer is wrong to me seems somewhat pointless.

"C" is your answer

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...=kb;[LN];123747

To move the print spool file location under either Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000:

In Control Panel, double-click Printers.
On the File menu, click Server Properties, and then click the Advanced tab.
Type the path you want to use in the Spool Folder box, and then click OK.

Print$ is the folder that provides access to printer driver files for client computers.

When you install the first shared printer, the systemroot\system32\spool\driv
ers folder is shared as Print$

Print$ has nothing to do with the print spool file or the location of that file.

I'm sorry you feel disappointed about the forum. Members are very touchy with respect to questions they feel are braindump type questions. My advise would be to re-word the question before posting it.

Sharing knowledge is great, however do not use "sharing of knowledge" to defend the posting of braindump questions in this forum.

I hope this helps.
