Namrak is the administrator of a Windows 2000 Professional workstation that he recently upgraded from Windows NT 4.0.

He is trying to run a legacy application, but is unable to do so. Namrak was able to run this legacy application prior to the upgrade to Windows 2000 Professional.

What should Namrak do to allow the legacy application to run on his Windows 2000 Professional computer? (Choose the most appropriate answer).

A. Create a GPO for the Users group that will all the legacy application to run.

B. Configure the legacy application to run in a seperate memory space.

C. Use SECEDIT.EXE to apply the COMPATWS.INF security template to his security policy to change the permissions for the local users group on his computer.

D. Assign the appropriate NTFS permissions to the legacy application so it will run.

E. Uninstall and then re-install the legacy application.

Good luck and see you tomorrow for the answer!

C (is for chunder)

and for a good read on built in security templates, search in the windows help files for compatws. if you're on XP, you'll have a little better read. the one on 2000 is worded rather chunkily.

Yup, C it is. None of the other answers made much logical sense to the problem.

Had a similar question last night on my MOC class quiz. Got it wrong then but with everything I am learning.

And the answer is....C

The COMPATWS.INF security template opens the default permissions so that legacy applications are more likely to run correctly.
