Passing score question revisited
|
|

| I asked this on the end of the other thread but got no answer.
This is stupid question i guess...
Is the 540 out of 1000?
or is it 540 out of another point system?

| Last checked it was 540 out of 1000 - however, rumor has it that the test has now moved to simply PASS/FAIL, so don't worry about the minimum to pass and go into it confident of passing regardless of the score. | |

| OK I was just wondering becuase I have been using the dump files as sort of a test and grading myself. I have been getting a little above 70% of them correct. My test is tomorrow. I hope I pass. I will be going over these questions for a few more hours though.
Thank you | |

| Best of luck on your exam! | |

| It's funny you ask this question. I took the test last week. No score is given anymore. Pass or Fail!! Riduculous! Wasn't too happy to see "FAIL" hit me in the face. Don't know what I messed up on or what I need to brush up on for the next time. I know one thing though. Transcender questions or questions with the one word answers did not exist on the test. Every question seemed like a small novel with meaningless information which I had to sift through looking for the real question. The answers aren't short either. By the time I got to question #40 I was burnt. They gave 61 questions in all. I thought I knew my stuff but now my confidence level isn't too high. This is not to discourage you but just a warning to be on the lookout. Microsoft has changed their policy and made the Workstation and Server a lot harder.
I myself am looking for new study materials to use. Anyone have any ideas??

| I ran into the same problem as Hitman. I took
the test a few weeks ago, I was pretty confident going in and I was scoring 95 to 100 on the transcenders. I also took the Global Knowledge course and read through the
Exam Prep Book. When I took the test it was
long and confusing but when I was done I thought that I passed because I had that feeling that I did ok. When I ended the exam I was surprised to find out that I did not pass and the worst thing about it is that I have no idea where I went wrong or what my score was.

| Go back to the basics. I found the 210 exam to be heavily focused on various installation methods. You need to understand the answer files and how they work and where they belong - when to rename unattend.txt to winnt.sif, etc. Use the operating system.
Humanoid - !!!CAUTION!!! - if you're using dump files to help prepare Be sure you are looking up the answers - many dumps are wrong and relying on them will contribute to a failure. Understanding why an answer is right or wrong will help you sort through the answers and eliminate obvious incorrect choices. Best of luck to you on the exam.
For those of you who have seen the dreaded "Sorry, you did not pass this Microsoft Certified Professional exam" message, dust yourselves off and start figuring out where you went wrong. Pick up the Readiness Review book or simply spend some time in this forum and search back through the countless posts from folks like wbafrank with a 'Question of the Day'. These are some great questions and will definitely help you get a feel for your weak areas.

| I took the class for this test. Went over that class book again, took the 215 class, went over that book, read the 210 training kit book and did the online study that my school provided. I am looking at the dumps as a way of getting used to how the questions are answered.
Even though I did all this I am still worried. I will know how good I am at 2:00pm.
thanks
Hugh
edit:
oh yea...I also use the audio whiz cd's. I have to admit I would have rather listened to Creed on the way to work but this was a great help also.

| I know the feelling, you just have to try to relax, settle down and hope for the best.
GOOD LUCK!!! I hope to take it again in a few weeks.

| Every exam I took gave me butterflies. But I was confident I knew the concepts of how things work. Most of the questions I answered were by being able to figure out what it couldn't be. This I put down to understanding the concepts.
Thanks to Forums like this and doing the questions of the day helped a lot. Studying the explanations played a vital role. Using transcenders will help if you read the explanations not only on the ones you get wrong but also on the ones you get right.
Good luck with your exam nake sure you understand unnatended installations, sysprep and RIS. This is something that is only touched upon in the classroom but I would say that it made up 50% of the questions that I had. Fortunately practicing these type of installations at home stood me in good stead.

| WOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I passed. I am not sayiing to rely on the brain dump questions but getting in microsofts head and getting used to how they asked questions way a really big help.
Good luck to you all who are working on it...215 is next 4 me.

| Hello,
I was new to the whole cert exams. I decided to do the 70-210 exam first even before A+ or anything. The questions where several paragraphs long and through it i was shaking my head saying to myself this is hard i don't know if i will pass. What they focused on was a lot of server stuff which i was not prepared for. I also had a few networking questions thrown in using diagrams of ip addresses etc.
I found that the Mike Meyers passport book really under prepared me. I would only recommend it for a foundation. All up i studied about 20 days. I was reviewing the brain dumps site and i was barely getting 60% of questions right. But i think that site helps.
Anyway i passed and yes no numeric scores are given anymore and i learnt a valuable lesson. Never underestimate a MCSE exam. When i do the server i will better prepare myself.
Good luck to you all! | |
