Problem with 70-210

| Hello all,
I took the 70-210 exam on Monday and didn't pass. Misssed it by 20 points. I was using Transcender and was scoring 100% on their prep exams. Was fairly confident I would pass. Can anyone tell me what happened? Anyone else fail while using Transender?

| Transenders are horrible (for Microsoft exams at least). I failed 215 and 218 with flying colors using them. You probably just ended up memorizing the q&a after drilling yourself time after time. That's what happened to me, got like 100% on Transcenders, walked in to take the test and failed. Don't waste anymore money on them, they are a waste. That's why Micro$oft endorses them. | |

Transenders are one big conspiracy...

| What you should in fact be doing is reading the Microsoft books and working on all thier lab exercises and questions | |

| Another person to fail by 20 points!!
I have also failed by 20 points TWICE and so did my work colleague the first time he took it.
I'm still studying for this exam before i take it again user the New Riders book. It doesn't help much either when you read posts like 'The exam was too easy', some people have just found it easier than others i guess.
Still, don't give up, i'm still trying after 2 disappointments.

| Okay - I have to disagree on this one. I would say the Transcender product was quite helpful for the 210 and 215 exams. I agree it is NOT the one to use for 218, however. But I did find the explanations to point out some areas to me that I simply misread. How did you do on the questions that came with the book you used? It's never a good idea to use just one test simulator product. Search the net - there are lots of free questions out there to practice with. Try looking at www.certyourself.com
As a side note, it is interesting that with the passing score at 540, many have failed with a 520.

Yes, I will agree Transcenders have wonderful explanations.

| I used transcenders for my MCSE 4.0 and 2K. They were great. I also read many books and used a live network to get my hands-on.
Transcenders is a finishing product, not the main product itself...

| I think Transcenders are excellent practice exams in that they use exam questions that are similar to the questions you'll find on MS exams.
People who pass these exams realize that a practice exam is meant to improve your reading comprehension, deductive reasoning, and powers of concentration.
People who fail these exams may be under the impression that taking the exam over and over again until you have the questions and answers memorized is an indication of inevitable success at the testing center.
My formula for passing MS exams:
-tinkering with test servers and workstations
-making mistakes and correcting them
-transcenders exams to improve focus
and what I consider most important:
-reading each chapter of recommended texts while writing notes in my notebook
I find that the combination of reading and writing helps me better memorize important info.
Good Luck in your exams and in life!
To The Good-

| I got a set of books from the computer books club with some starter tests from exam cram and I want to go ahead and get the rest of the available questions, but I haven't been able to visit their site..I am also under the impression that the books are no longer in print, anyone know what in the world happened to coriolis? (sp?) | |
|
| Exam Cram books will be back. Let's leave it at that for now... | |

The Micro$oft Training Kit (MS Academic Learning Series) available from Micro$oft Press and most book stores, has an evaluation copy of the OS (Pro or Server)included. This CD-ROM copy of the OS is good for 180 days from date installed. The tarining also comes with lab guide that will give you a lot of hands on experience configuring the various OS (Pro or Server).
Hope this helps. | |

| pctekus: Cool, I did not mean to be blunt in that post. My apologies to cross36. I don't usually go with M$ press so I had no idea. My brand of choice is Sybex. Thanks for the info though, it is greatly appreciated! | |

| Agree 100%, transcenders are great for a last week brush-up, just to improve focus and get ready for those 50 straight questions. They should not be the main learning tool, that's what the books and the evaluation pack's are for. Work with the OS, and read.. | |

| I am planning to do 70-210 in a months time. I first read the Sybex book and the read the Microsoft book, doing all the exercises I could manage. Took the practice exam that comes with Microsoft and got 70% and I know where I went wrong on the incorrect ones. Is 70-210 marked on a partial credit system? as the practice exam seems to be on a must get the whole question right basis. I am taking the exam in the UK. | |
|
| I do believe that the answers are either 100% right, or they are deemed to be wrong... |
