XP pro connecte to w2k pro
Hi all,

I need someone to help me to get my WindowsXP pro connected to my windows2000 Pro with crossover cable.

I did assign an ip address in both computers with same range and both are under same one workgroup

Please tell me (step by step) what I m missing here…..

Any help is highly appreciated

Step by step I would say:

-unique names in the same workgroup

-ip address in the same subnet(lets say 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0)

-that should be it

Make sure it really is a crossover cable.
Look at one cable and check the other to make sure wires 1-2 are switched with 3-6 of the other end.

That should be everything you need to do to get them connected.

Try pinging one PC from the other to see if you can at least ping it.
