I've a peculiar problem with W2K Pro on standalone personal laptop. It's not a very serious problem, at least not yet.

Has anyone experienced a problem where a folder's properties (either right-clicking w/ mouse or selecting file/properties from Win Explorer) fails to open that folder's properties dialog box? Not only is this with folders but also with the disks(both hd & removable in My Computer and in Win Explorer). With files not a problem; can right-click one and open it's properties dialog box.

I checked the Local Computer Security settings and MS Knowledgebase and didn't see or find anything that could help fix this problem. Checked event viewer and saw nothing out of the ordinary.

I discovered this after successfully downloading and installing SP3 onto my W2K pro laptop and rebooting it. It was a recommended update. Read the sp's details saw nothing wrong with it so I went ahead with the update. Up to that point the only major change to the machine was SP3. I can't say 100% for sure that the SP3 was the culprit because I didn't test if any of folder's properties were working right before the SP3 update but I do know I was able to open any object's properties well before this update occured. I've installed previous updates like SP1 & 2 without any adverse effects afterwards so I thought nothing with this update.

Uninstalling this sp isn't possible cuz it's not available in Add/Remove Programs.

I'm out of ideas right now. I'm sure I've missed or overlooked something. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Yes, I've already rebooted once before.

Not sure if SP3 cause your problem but what if you download the full network version and try to reapply it and with that version you will have the option to uninstall it ,maybe able to revert back to SP2 ???

Not sure on that one.

What was actingup in your system that you needded to install SP3 to fix the problem.

New doesn't mean better.

You could always restore from your ghosted backup image if you created one But not likely you did.
