And today's poser is ....

Q22. You have a server on which your have installed a printer named PrintSrv8. The server has two volumes (C: and D. Both drives have been formatted with the NTFS file system and you have configured a disk quota on the C: drive allowing users to save no more than 20 MB worth of data to the drive. There is no quota configured for the D: drive. The C: drive currently has 1 GB of free space and the D: drive has 500 MB of free space.

Several users are complaining that when they attempt to print to PrintSrv8 they are unsuccessful. Although not everyone is experiencing this problem you have noticed that it tends to happen when people attempt to print large jobs. How would you solve this problem with the least amount of administrative effort?

A. Delete the printer. Recreate a new printer on the D: drive of the server.

B. Move the spool folder to the D: drive.

C. Convert the disk from a basic disk to a dynamic disk.

D. Change the default permissions on PrintSrv8 to give the Authenticated Users the Manage Printers permission.

E. Free up disk space on the C: drive by running Disk Cleanup.

Good Luck .... see you tomorrow for the answer!!

And the answer is ....

Correct Answer: B

In the above scenario, it is likely that the users are unable to have their documents spooled due to the quota restrictions that are in place. If the spool folder is located on the C: drive it is subject to the quota limit that has been configured for the drive. If the users have other data on the drive, they may be prevented from saving additional data (eg large print jobs) on the drive.

To fix the problem, move the location of the spool folder from the C: drive to the D: drive. This can be done from Server Properties in the File menu for Printers.

Yes, changing the quota might also fix the problem - but one can assume that the 20MB limit has been put there for a good reason.
