| And today's poser is ....
Q15. The Great Britain Space Agency has 250 brand new computers that it wants to deploy Windows 2000 Professional too. The Systems Administrator, Alison, decides that she wants to automate the process and she has created a file containing the values that must be unique among the computers (such as computer name). Which of the following switches will Alison use in conjunction with the winnt32 command to automate the installation? (Choose all that apply)
A. /sysprep
B. /udf
C. /syspart
D. /cmdcons
E. /upgradeonly
F. /unattend
Good Luck .... see you tomorrow for the answer!!

| Humm,,, off the top of my head,,
well it's not A because sysprep is a disk duplication tool(not used for deploying), i don't remember B or C, D is to load the Recovery console, don't remember E,
I would think F has got to be one of the answer's

| Hmm...it's been a while since I've looked over those switches. I know it's definitely not A, C, or E. I go with the rest of the crowd: B and F. | |

| hehe
A -- Don't think so some how !!
B -- Might be a good idea
C -- even if you wanted to without a /tempdrive switch you can't, well as I understand it anyway.
D -- As these are new machines why would you ???
E -- Gonna need this one without a doubt.
Sooo I'm gonna go with B and E.

Are you sure? Thats a switch that doesn't even exist. There is a Winnt32 /checkupgradeonly but no /upgradeonly. So its definately not E.

B. /udf
C. /syspart
D. /cmdcons
E. /upgradeonly
F. /unattend
And the answer is ....
Correct Answer: B and F
You can use the /unattend switch to perform a fresh installation of Windows 2000 Professional in unattended Setup mode. In conjunction with the /unattend switch you will specify an answer file that provides the Setup process with the custom specifications for each computer.
For settings that must be unique to each computer such as computer name you can specify a Uniqueness Database (UDB) file to modify the answer file. To specify a UDB file, use the /udf switch.
The /syspart switch is used when you want to copy the Setup startup files to a hard disk, mark the disk as active and then install the disk into another computer.
The /cmdcons switch is add to the operating system selection screen an option for the Recovery Console which can aid with troubleshooting and repair of failed installations.
The /sysprep and /upgradeonly switches are not valid for use with the winnt32 command.

LOL Good Advice to one and all - I have been guilty of this also and I know you won't be the last one to do it. |
