www.testout.com

| I have the MCSE materials. Used them for NT4 and Net+ and was quite happy. The lady that does the video stuff is a bit dry, but the material and the practice exams are excellent. | |

thanks for the insight.
what if we're hoping to use them to train people in the department who don't necessarily want to certify? just learn about Win2000, for example?

| I actually found them to be quite helpful while I was learning 2000 in the workplace. There were times that I would step through a couple of modules at work and find the answers I was looking for. For the price they're offering now, you really can't go wrong and the whole department gets training for the cost of sending just one of you to one of MS's formal courses. (just in case you needed some ammunition to justify cost to the boss ) | |

| again, thanks for the great feedback.
the thing came in the mail and my boss had it on his desk still. the reason it didn't make it to the trash was because of the price. i picked it up and said "please buy this". so he did. too good of a deal to pass up. we can take them to our training room and watch them on the projector! cool.

| I cannot be as positive. not that the testout stuff is bad, but it is just that I do not react well to the CBT format in general. Give me a book anytime
My point is that you may find some your users at work that have the same feeling about CBTs...

| I think you obviously need to combine them with a decent text book as well. Like anything else, I wouldn't rely soley on the TestOut materials for all of the information, but they are a nice alternative to dropping thousands per class and give you the luxury of reviewing stuff you don't quite understand the first time.
Now slow down those posts freak or I won't get my free study guide

i'd never use just one method no matter what the course. i have all of the ExamCrams, the Mastering Windows 2000 series from Minasi et al. and the Microsoft Enterprise Learning CD which is basically the entire MS Press Certification library, it appears. Plus I'm working with this stuff everyday at work and i have a 4 computer lab @ home with DSL... so, that should round me out ok, i hope! |
