Was just wondering if MS already know you have the Net+ and A+ and automatically give you credit toward the msca.

Do I have to inform them myself??

You need to forward the information to them. Check MS's website - I believe there is a link there for the step required to get credit for your CompTIA certs.

do you still receive a cert in the mail if you pass the win 2000 pro? and you did not submit the comptia certs?

another question?

after you pass every mcp tests, do you receive separate Certifications in the maiL?

You will receive your MCP certification Welcome Kit (with lapel pin, card, certificate) in the mail about 4-6 weeks after you passed your first Microsoft exam.

The CompTIA exams count towards the general elective requirement for the MCSA only, they do not count towards the MCSE, MCDBA certifications.

After that, you will not receive any more certificates for any other exams you pass until to reach the next certification level (ex. MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA)

So, in your case, you pass 70-210 (which I assume will be your first MS certification exam), you are then a MCP and will receive your welcome kit and certificate, etc...

You will not receive anything else for any other exam you pass until you reach the next Microsoft certification level.

I recieved an e-mail from Microsoft back on May 15th saying I was ____% on my way to earning the MCSA certification! I will cut and paste what I recieved to see if anybody else has gotten this! I will quote,

"Subject: Your MCSA Progress

Complete your final _____ exams to become an MCSA.

With your CompTIA A+ and Network+ or A+ and Server+ certification, you've already completed the elective requirement toward the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) credential. Continue to enhance your skills and prove your expertise--take the next step toward your MCSA.

Continue your career upgrade now.

The MCSA credential is within your reach. You only need to pass ____ more exams.

MCSA certification is based on the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credential, the premier certification for Microsoft® systems engineers. All MCSA exams count toward the MCSE.

Choose your platform--either Microsoft® Windows® 2000 or Microsoft® Windows® XP--and your path of study. Both instructor-led courses and self-paced training kits are available.

Here's the link to CompTIA to get your A+ & Net+/Server+ to count towards MCSA.

markmyrie - why are you always so angry?

Almost every one of your posts in these forums has the angry face attached. Like the question in this thread directed to Doug - why use the angry face icon? A simple question mark would have sufficed.

Hey MarkMrie,

I too was wondering about the Red Face, I thought I had said something to offend but glad I didn't and I don't hold grudges against my fellow posters unless it was a Flamming email against myself and others. I just felt like using the quotation directly from Microsoft's email versus typing it out -- more direct and easier for me.

I started doing Certification Exams back in 1996 and normally I give it two months per exam unless I am lazy or busy with work, shortest exam took me two weeks and was the hardest Microsoft exam I have ever taken - Internet Information Server IIS 4.0! My attitude was I wanted to see the beast before it expired and told the "exam proctor" I was here to FAIL the exam and so I had NO pressure on my self -- I PASSED and so I saved the 2nd $100 exam date for another exam!

At the moment I am unemployeed, but I think the market is finally starting to open up again for IT jobs. So the certs do help seeing I have not finished my degree in the IS/IT field. A degree is worth more than the certs and if I had both or the government security clearance(s) I would be making some good money again.

As for the cert titles and the closing that was a mistake seeing I had it loaded in the buffer when I thought I was just pasting my name. I have my certs like everybody else usually updated in my profile so that was stupid to not notice when I did the [Ctrl]+[V] to paste my name!
