dynamic disk upgrade - bad idea!!
|
|
|
| I recently upgraded my win2k pc from basic to dynamic disks (1 HD), upon reboot I get the 'boot disk not found' error. So I think, ok, ERD... no luck... ok so I think recovery console... doesn't want to know...
What did I do wrong!? I can't figure it out.. anyone have any idea?

| Not much info reguarding problem related to unable to boot after conversion to dynamic except that it needded to boot twice in a row (back to back) in order to manipulate the MBR ,but you probably did that .This could be big time problem and hope it was a test PC you were working with and could start from scratch.
Hope to see more reply.Take Care . | |

| test pc... NOT
it was on my main pc I use for everything... luckily I had made a backup 7 days before!! So I had to use data recovery software to recover last 7 days of data...!
I know that you should ALWAYS backup before messing around with disk management... I think I've learnt my lesson this time!
cheers for the help ;o) | |

| that happened to me on the fileserver at school (oops)
so from then on I never set my boot/system disk to dynamic it just isn't worth it
but for the other disks I had to upgrade em to dynamic to make a 140 gig striped volume |
