I should know this better than i do. Got hit with it the other day and stumbled through the answer. Rights are assigned at the file and/or folder level. Where permissions are at the user and/or group level. Check me if i am wrong or not detailed enough. TIA

got it backwards. Rights function at the user or group level were permissions are attached to the object, file,folder, etc...

You've got it now. Basically, Rights give you the ability to do something, like log on locally, change the system time, etc..

Permissions are assigned to give access to resources like Files, Folders, Printers, etc..
