Hi, I have a question.
When you wanna upgrade your printer driver, where will you go, Device Manager or Printer applet in the control panel.

I think you can upgrade the printer driver from Device Manager. Am I wrong?

answer your question:

The link didn't work but this it what it said:

To install new or updated printer drivers

Open Printers

Right-click the printer for which you want to change drivers, and then click Properties.

On the Advanced tab, click New Driver to install a new or updated version of the printer driver using the Add Printer Driver wizard.

Click Next, and then do one of the following:

Click the appropriate printer manufacturer and printer model if the new or updated driver is on the list.

Click Have Disk if the printer driver is not included in the list or if you have received a new or updated driver on CD or diskette from the printer manufacturer, type the path where the driver is located, and then click OK.

Click Next, and then follow the instructions on the screen to finish installing the printer driver.

Why don't you just try it Calidog?

If you go into the Device Manager you will see that you cannot upgrade a Printer Driver from there. But if you go into the Printer Applet in the Control Panel or even via the Start Bar Menu under Settings you will find you are able to do it from either of those places (although you end up at the same place anyway).

But I'm just curious as to why you didn't just try?

Thank you for your replies!

Of course I tried before I posted this question in this forum.
It is weird 'cause I can upgrade the printer driver from Device Manager , not from the printer applet in control panel.

When I was doing one of practice questions, I got the answer wrong on the question about upgrading the printer driver.

I felt like I am missing an easy point, so I decided to ask somebody here.

Sorry, I was wrong.
I now know that it is possible to upgrade the printer driver from printer applet.
Sorry guys...

Well, but I still can upgrade my printer driver from Device Manager. I don't know why.

Is it a USB printer? You can upgrade most USB printer drivers from Device Manager!

See, now that's cool, cos I've learn't something today. I didn't know that you could do that with USB.

and Calidog I apologise for thinking that you had posted without trying.

this is the question that came in the mail the other day, now if using generic WINDOWS drivers, then its done from printers, and as mentioned, some usb printers can be done from device manager,BUT, how about a printer that 2k doesnt recognise, and you ned to run a SETUP program? I presume they are after the "book" answer, which is sometihng Im really going to have to try and get used to.
