And today's poser is:

Q63. Alison wants to connect her USB camera to her Windows 2000 Professional computer and would like to know the minimal steps needed to accomplish this. What would you tell her to do?

A. Connect the camera to the computer while it is running. Go to Control Panel and run the Add New Hardware wizard.

B. Shut down the System. Connect the camera. Power the system up and Go to Control Panel and run the Add New Hardware wizard.

C. Shut down the System. Connect the camera. Power the system up and Windows 2000 will find the new device.

D. Connect the camera to the computer while it is running. Windows 2000 will recognize the device and configure it on the fly with no need to reboot.

Good Luck .... see you tomorrow for the answer!!

"D" is very possible.

But to be on the safe side I'll do "C" in case of any problems

USB is hot swappable so no need to reboot - I'm going with D

D is CORRECT.
If this doesn't work you must use Scanners and Cameras Applet at Control Panel.
No reboot is required for USB, and Add Remove Hardware applet is not a solution for a camera.

As long as your USB is enabled & working properly, all you should have to do is plug it in & you're ready to go!

D - I have a camera on a USB port and just recently plugged it back in after a complete reformat of the system. Windows 2000 loaded it right up for me. No reboot.

I would go for D, but how about a driver?
Is a driver for the camera already installed? Or...

If Allison's computer doesn't have a driver for the camera, I should tell her about installing a driver...

Well, anyway, I think the correct answer is D...

And the answer is ....

Correct Answers: D

USB devices are hot pluggable. It is not necessary to power down or reboot the computer Windows 2000 Professional will detect the device when it is plugged in and configure it on the fly. It is not necessary to run the Add Hardware wizard as Windows 2000 will recognize the device when it is connected.
