And today's poser is ....

Q55. You are an administrator for a coporate network supporting 50 users running Windows NT 4.0 Workstation. You are planning to deploy Windows 2000 Professional on these 50 computers. You need to ensure that the existing computer hardware is compatible with Windows 2000. Which methods can you use to generate a hardware compatibility report? (Choose all that apply)

A. Download and run CHKUPGRD.EXE

B. Run MKCOMPAT.EXE from the root of the Windows 2000 installation CD-ROM.

C. Open the Run dialog box and, including the path to the \i386 folder on the Windows 2000 installation CD-ROM, type winnt32/checkupgrade in the Open text box.

D. Open the Run dialog box and, including the path to the \i386 folder on the Windows 2000 installation CD-ROM, type winnt32/checkupgradeonly in the Open text box.

Good Luck .... see you tomorrow for the answer!!

D is correct. I tried A in my computer but it doesn't work by typing this command either in Run box or C: prompt. Where should I download this command?

A and D.

You can download the CHKUPGRD.EXE from the Microsoft website. And by doing winnt32/checkupgradeonly it will spool a report and not install the product.

And the answer is ....

Correct Answers: A and D

A. Correct: The CHKUPGRD.EXE program is the Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer self-extracting utility available for download from the Microsoft Web site.

B. Incorrect: The MKCOMPAT.EXE program is a Windows 95 utility for troubleshooting problems running Windows 3.1-based programs in Windows 95.

C. Incorrect: The winnt32 /checkupgrade syntax is incorrect.

D. Correct: Typing the 32-bit Windows 2000 setup routine with the /checkupgradeonly switch included runs the Microsoft Windows 2000 Readiness Analyzer Wizard.
