Let's try..

Start your PC with set up disk Num.1 in floppy,or with CD.
At set-up screen select R
Select manuel repair:for Syst.Files
boot sector
Start up

Select fast repair:for Syst.Files
boot sector
Start up
Syst. Registry

Repair option will ask you the ERD disk
in drive A

When repair is completed, it will autom.
reboot and load Win.

Missing or corrupted files are reloaded
from the original media !!!
This means that any changes made, software
installed or service packs applied will
BE LOST !!

Hope it helps
Take care

Or, you could connect to the machines registry remotely using regedt32 and make sure the paging file is pointing to the right place and is the size you want. I don't remember the Hive it is under but I am sure you can find it.
Good Luck

great thread to remind ourselves that the page file should be at least 1 1/2 times the size of the RAM loaded on that box. In other words, if you have 64MB on a Windows 2000 Pro machine, go buy some more RAM I mean 64 + 32 = 96MB. That is how big your page file should be...

This is not the problem. The machine have 512 MB DDR memory. The problem come when we make a ghost image. I want to know what is the register key that have the pointer to the path of the pagingfile and the size of this file, because if i can change the registry file, i resolved the problem!!

This is my first idea... i think that i can put this disk in another win2k machine and edit the registry file and search for the key that set the paging file size!! do you know this key?

I had to deal with this same problem recently, and nothing could help me get to load the OS to verify the paging file size or nothing.

Check if the original disk you were ghosting has GO Back intalled. I had to unistall this software in order to ghost the disk properly. After doing it and ghosting once again, I was able to load W2000 and login as usual.

NO, i donīt know what kind of software is GO BACK. I resolved the problem making the ghost image from disk to disk instead of partition to partition.....

thanks for your help.

Just had this exact same problem a few days ago, said the page file was too small and wouldn't allow logons locally or remotely through terminal services. Ultimately ended up formatting and reinstalling. The repair didn't work and I didn't have ERD.

From what I'm reading I guess I could have connected to the registry remotely, how would I go about doing that though.

go to another machine. Drop to the run command by hitting the windows and "R" keys. Type regedt32 and enter. Choose the option "connect to remote computer" from the first menu on the left. Done
