Real-Life Question

|
| Okay, I'm confused, which doesn't surprise me because every time I start really studying I come up with a million things that don't make sense when I try to apply what I read to real life.
For example, according to MOC:
"If client computers running W95/W98 use incompatible or insufficient hardware and you do not want to upgrade them, you can install Windows 2000 Directory Services Client. Then, these client computers can take advantage of a Windows 2000 network."
I've got about 20 computers running W98 that are accessing my W2K server without a hitch and I do not recall ever installing W2K Directory Services Client on any of them.
Can anyone shed some light on this, please?

| If it ain broken why fix it, just kidding. Well some things are just the way they are, you ask why? Well because they just are.
Joke aside now, well it goes to show that it doesn't always work out the M$ way, but for the exams we have to answer questions the M$ way. It comes from experience and finding your own way around situations like these in real life scenarios.

| Can they search the directory?
Browse and connect to a DFS?
Connect to shared folders with 20 pc`s is one thing.Managing an enterprise network with hundreds or thousands of users is another. That is the leverage which AD, and in this case the mentioned client extensions, provides.Im not sure of your familiarity with directory services are but it is infinately easier to manage a AD network than a Flat NT 4 Model network.Better for the users better for the admins!
