I've upgraded from win98 to win2000. I did an upgrade. If I wanted to go back to win98 how can I get rid of the upgrade.

Hi,

First, I have to ask why would you rather want W98 instead of 2000? Next, I am pretty sure that the only way to revert to 98 is by putting in a 98 startup disk and start from scratch. Win 98 has a utility to revert from 98 to 95, not 2000 to 98. Please correct me if I am wrong.

peace out

you don't need to go back to your win98 to recover your phone and contacts. this already exists on your hard disks....

what Outlook version do you use with 98?

ok. you can recover all your email and contacts of your old windows 98 in the following way:

all the email folders (inbox, sended items, etc) exist on files with extension DBX.

you need to search on your hard disk all files with the extension DBX. when you find this files, you must check the location and size of this folders. by logic, if you find a inbox.dbx file with 30 MB size, this is your old INBOX folder.

you must REFLECT the path and location of this folder who contain this file on your new Outlook on TOOLS, OPTIONS, MAINTENANCE, STORE FOLDER.....

on STORE folder you must SET the path of your DBX files. WHen you set the PATH, restart OUTLOOK, and all your old emails appears AGAIN!!!

this recover all emails folders and data. Tell me if you need assistance with contacts information.

this works.
i made that hundred of times.

not only this, you can move your DBX folder to another location to make backups of your emails as routine.

maybe is hidden.

on win2k the dbx files are just inside a folder path like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\administrator.ICOM2K01\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{62788507-A59E-4D82-8D96- 16562FB6F478}\Microsoft\Outloo
k Express

on XP the same....

on win98 i don`t remember, you must make a manual browsing looking for folders called OUTLOOK EXPRESS or IDENTITIES

just inside this kind of folders you can find the DBX files HIDDEN. this files contain all email.

on outlook 97, 2k or xp (not express) only the PST files have contacts + emails

TIP: on your actual outlook express, go to TOOLS, options, maintenance, store folder and see the path showed here... copy this path and paste into explorer or browse manually to this path and look the DBX files... see if DBX are hidden....

ough!!!!! very good job!

now i recommend the following:

get all the DBX data and put all togheter in a separate folder for example inside MY DOCUMENTS or another drive. change the STORE FOLDER path on your outlook and make backups of this data on regular basis.

you can use Outlook XP or 2k and import all the DBX data into a SINGLE PST file...... this PST must contain everything.

and remember, you have pending the contacts data yet!!!!!
