Tharg is the administrator of his company's network. He supports client computers currently running a mix of Windows 98 and Windows NT 4.0.

Tharg wants to install Windows 2000 Professional on a Pentium III computer with one 10GB hard drive and achieve the following results:

* Use File/Folder Encryption.

* Implement File-level Security.

* Use Volume Mount Points.

* Dual-boot with Windows 98.

Tharg's proposed solution: Install Windows 2000 Professional and specify the option to format the entire hard drive as NTFS.

Which results does his proposed solution provide? (Choose all that apply.)

A. He can use File/Folder Encryption.
B. He can implement File-level security.
C. He can Use Volume Mount Points.
D. He can dual-boot with Windows 98.

Good luck and see you tomorrow for the answer!!

A, B, & C. W98 won't recofnize an NTFS format. In order to dual boot, it has to be FAT or FAT32.

Yup, no dual booting here with NTFS. But there is, would you believe, a way around this. You COULD get Windows 98 running on this PC (it doesn't involve dual-booting though).

There's a really cool bit of software called VMWARE. Basically you run Win98 as a virtual machine on top of 2K.

You have to install Windows 98 first to get it to dual boot with 2000. And of course it has be installed on some flavor of FAT, not NTFS.

Tharg's proposed solution using Windows 2000 will provide (A) - File/Folder Encryption, (B) - File-level security, and (C) - the ability to use Volume Mount Points if needed. His proposed solution does not provide a means to dual-boot with Windows 98.

Nice job eveyone!!
