Ruscorp thinks that he may need to add some more memory to his Windows 2000 computer becuase he uses applications that require a tremendous amount of graphics files, and these files have been slower to pull into the application than normal.

What counter should he measure under the Memory performance object, what levels should he watch for and what action should he perform?

A. Watch the Available Bytes counter. If it goes under 4MB, he should add more memory.

B. Watch the Pages/sec counter. If it reaches 20, he should add more memory.

C. Watch the Pages/sec counter. If it reaches 20, he should add more hard disk space.

D. All of the Above.

E. Both A and B.

Good luck and see you tomorrow for the answer!!

Forum nOOb here....

I would have to say (E)

When in doubt...throw RAM at it!

I will say B, as this should let him know far in advance before he gets to below 4Mb of available memory, plus adding hard disk space will not cure this problem.

Hard to say...

Since the applications are already slow, he may already be at under that 4Meg point...

Damn...don't remember...does the 'available bytes' counter include the page file or is it just the physical RAM?

Agreed though that adding HDD space is useless...

Maybe defrag would help some, but I'd have to echo with answer (E) as well.

well, origionally I was going to say B, but then E through me off, and I said E, but as cyber was saying it shouldn't get down to 4 megs, so I went with E, but think I should have gone for B only.

And the answer is......E

A and B state the appropriate counters to monitor, what to watch for, and correct action to take for this scenario. Available Bytes tells us how much memory is available at any given time, and Pages/sec describes how often the paging file is used to swap information to and from the hard disk.

Nice job everyone!
