| I still get this reoccurring error below on one of my Windows 2000 Pro machines when I try to run regedit.exe. I've been endlessly searching the MS Knowledge Base and internet for a solution however I cannot find one. | |

Can't figure out how to replace/unregister it because it's always says it's in use.

But how with this problem?
Actually enforcer's idea isn't that bad. I'm just too lazy to take it apart.

| if the problem occurs only when you run regedit, surely it is possible just to insert you win2k cd and reinstall the o/s, using the repair facility in the available options (aren't they install, repair, upgrade or something?). | |

Good question, just tried it and it worked.
|
| well, there you have it. No need to rebuild the box | |

Doesn't fix the existing problem though.
|
| sure it does. If you need to edit your registry, use regedt32, which is superior to the old 16 bit app anyway... | |

I always found that funny, cause I think regedit "looks" better dispite the fact it can't do much.
In my mind, the problem isn't fixed till the error is gone. Die error, die and go to hell!
|
| one thing I should add: regedit is superior to regedt32 in one area, and that is searching the registry... there, i did my good deed for the day. | |

At least I am not a self centered bastard with too many pics of myself to choose from That's the only pic I have because I don't have any other taken. Plus, I always think that my credentials speak louder than my looks -- and am I not lucky that it's the case?
