Guys, a potential job has surfaced. Migration, using Symantec GHOST!

I've never used Ghost before, and unfortunately do not have a home lab setup at the moment.

I need to learn as much as possible about how to migrate using Ghost, by tomorrow! I don't need experience, but I need to "sound smart" when I get my telephone interview on Monday.

What should I do?

ps. for anyone curious, it's a two-three month graveyard contract paying $18.00 per hour. not much, but it will look good on the resume!

symantec site

read.

link on the right.

customer scenarios
online tutorial
win2k migration with ghost.

all sort of stuff direct from the MAKER of ghost.

if you can't sound smart after reading those, then heh...

since it is about getting a job, the time you read all the available docs is well worth it.

edit: and sigh, I will sound like a broken record, but a cert board is far from the 1st place you should go when you need solutions... manufacturer site is always the most obvious and usually decent size corp all maintain a fairly useful documentation/whitepaper stuff.

Have a look at this. Don`t know if it is good: http://ghost.radified.com/ghost2_rad.pdf

Thanks, Mikop and Bencher... both suggestions look to be worthwhile reading!!

And yes... a manufacturers site SHOULD be the first place to check. Hmm. (grumbling at myself)

norton ghost is a easy software and is super important on the IT job.

you can make an image from one system and distribute such image on another system.

is the most easy and fast way to clone a hd or a partition.

with ghost 2001, 2002 and 2003 you can save the images directly on cdroms and make boot cds......

norton ghost donīt run on windows OSs, you need to boot with a diskete like win98 boot disk or make your own diskete.

ghost have their own creation boot disk utility......

you donīt need a lab to test Ghost. you must install ghost and create the boot ghost disk, boot with this disk and see the options you have.

a more complex option using norton ghost is to deploy images using the network or the usb connection. ghost 2003 come with deployment using usb2 and firewire connections.

ghost deliver a corporate version who deliver ghost images to several computers at the same time, using multicast.......

hope that this help.
this is a a+ post, not 70120......
