| I have been reading the windows 70-210 exam book for almost 1 year and still i come to the exam notes pratice questions and am defeated with a mere 40%.
I am loosing the confidence and ability to cosume any more knowledge on the windows 2000. As you might agree reading the same book on and off for that long and no exam at the end but bad marks on transcenders and examnotes.
Any tips, is useful and advice on realy getting to grips with this exam.

| Hey.
Let me start by saying that I don't think there's an easy way to passing the test. What I find a god idea when you got stuck both in the text and the test is to REALLY find out where your strong and weak points are.
For the strong points confirm yourself that you know enough to past the test and skip these chapters when you for the n'th time reread the book.
For the weak points. When you test yourself make every effort to afterwards understanding the answers and their implication ( also by reading technotes / knowledge base about the subjects ). Also it is necessary to find alternative tests 'cause there'll always in the end will be a tendency towards recognising the questions and thereby remembering the answers. Of course also try to seek information from different sources; colleagues, friends, newsgroups.
Also remember that although many questions seems insultantly pedantic in remembering whether the syntax for winnt32 is /checkupgradeonly or /checkupgrade you will often get far by having a good overview and thereby be able to eliminate the too far off answers.

| First don't get discouraged. Everyone learns at their own pace. But I would recommend some type of structured study plan that fits into your day. Like for me, I work full-time and have a 6 month-old. My study times during the week are at work during lunch and from 9:30 in the evening till about midnight. On the weekend, in between the yard work and everything else that needs to get done, I try to get as much studying in as I can. But the key thing is to stick with it. An on and off type study routine has never worked for me.
I always use more than one book source. You might want to think about getting another book like the Microsoft Self-Paced Training Kit for 70-210.
It's a good idea to get some hands-on for these exams as well. If you can snag a system and set it up with Windows 2000 Professional, it will help you out in your studies.
Finally, the best way to use Transcenders is look at the reasons as to why the one answer is right and the others are wrong, and research it out via the Microsoft Knowledgebase. Here's the link:
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...fh;[ln];kbhowto
Transcenders usually has Technet knowledgebase links in the expalnation section of their questions. Transceners is a good gauge to use for when to take this exam. I'd say consistent 850+ scores and your good to go.
Check out the QoD's in the 210 forum and post away with any question you might have. We are here to help.

| Hands-On.
get some hands on experience, set up your own lab and practice using it daily, build and destroy the pc's and rebuild again, experiment try different options to the norm and see what happens, get friends to help, set up user accounts for them get them to login etc. |
