Because Friday's QoD was an absolute bust, I'm throwing it out and having a special Saturday edition QoD.

You have recently installed Windows 2000 Professional for several users running Windows 98. You've decided to have a dual-boot environment with Windows 98 and Windows 2000.

Windows 2000 is the default OS, but your users currently select which OS they want to use at startup. You now want users to begin using Windows 2000 Professional exclusively, but you do not want to uninstall Windows 98 at this time.

How do you configure each system to prevent users from selecting an OS at startup?

A. Use the WINNT32.EXE command to run through the setup program and set Windows 2000 Professional as the only OS.

B. Configure the Startup and Recovery settings so the list of operating systems does not appear for the dual-boot configuration.

C. Configure the Recovery Console settings to set Windows 2000 Professional as the only OS.

D. You can't disable the startup choice. You must uninstall Windows 98.

Good luck and see you Monday for the answer!

Friday's Question was awesome.
I really enjoy arguments being fired up, this gets things really rolling.Questions, were everyone agrees are just too boring.
You are doing an awesome Job, Spid! Keep it going.

and the answer to this one is B.
hlang should get a bonus point for mentioning the boot.ini

Good Weekend to all!

Good Weekend to all!

Thanks Deja! I just felt kind of foolish posting a QoD that after really researching it out, confused myself to the point where I wasn't 100% sure of the answer.

I agree, I really enjoy the technical discussions we get going every once in a while. And those smiley faces you and Slinky throw at each other are too funny!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

And yes, hlang gets the bonus point for mentioning the boot.ini file. I was hoping someone would mention that.

Definitely answer (B) for this QotD. Would agree with hlang however and modify the boot.ini directly.

Don't worry about the bum QotD. If you ever visit the Server+ forum, I think I posted only a few good ones, while the others, weren't so good.

And the answer is.....B (or you can do this by editing the Boot.ini file directly).

Nice job everyone
