Hi,

I was wondering if there is any consensus on here about the Mike Meyer's Certification passport series for Win2K?

Are they comprehensive enough for a text?

Just curious if they are worth getting versus something else. Thanks.

I have had 2 of my classmates pass their exams using that book in conjunction with another book and a practice exam cd. I know the Meyers series for the A+ is excellent and I am using the 2000 series to prepare for my test.

I used MS Press - many have also used and liked the New Riders series. I have the Sybex books but didn't like them much. They left out some key information that was on the test like command line utilities and switches (one of MS's favorite test areas)

I have just bought the Mike Myers 70-210 passport book and on on the opening pages noticed that they had published the minimum memory requirement for W2K pro as 32MB!! and not the Microsoft min requirement set by MS of 64MB.

I wrote to Brian Culp (co author), he said that he had installed Win2K on a machine running 32MB and said he did not think you would get asked that question anyway - sounded a bit of a cop out to me. The accompanying ExamWeb CD would not install either, it looked as though the data files for the CD were missing. The book is concise however compared to the Sybex MCSE Core which I have also used. As pavlov has said Sybex does not go into sufficient detail needed to pass the exam.

The Sybex MCSE: Windows 2000 Core Virtual Trainer Gold on CD, which I have also used, is good in that it gives you a good feel of how the 70-210 exam will be presented.

I am now going to try Trancender on the advice of maelstrom-ce who has recently passed. Take plenty of practice tests.

Good luck
