| I would consider myself an expert w/ 2000 pro, used it at home till xp came home, set it up at work on our domain, just a good general knowledge.
Im only in chapter 6 of the MS Training Kit book, and the stuff in there is pretty much commond knowledge to most people w/ win 2000 knowledge(i would guess).
Is the test this easy, or am i way too early in the book to start drawing conclusions?

| I'd say your probably too early in the study process to start drawing conclusions. I had a fair amount of experience with Win2000 before I started studying for the test also. While your experience will definetly help you out some, I would suggest reading the whole book and then getting some good exam software. | |

| Do as RobertJ has suggested, buy or try some free practice exams. With you knowledge the books would seem easy - it's putting it into MS scenarios which is the hardest!! | |

| I've finished the MCSE 70-210 book by microsoft press... yes the reading was easy, i already knew everything i read because of my previous experience, and when i tried the Transcender practice software, it pimp-slapped me in the face! the scenario "you are the administrator of your company" questions are tough, a lot of traps and trick questions that you're gonna have to learn to avoid, so yes, practice your questions.. i'm taking it 4 day from now, just passed the ccda today and i read the ccda book and the 70-210 book at the same time, that's how easy the mcse book was. Also keep in mind that 540 is a very easy score to beat. | |

| I thought a passing score was like a 640 on the 70-210.
Couldnt find any definitive info on MS's page though, can someone post the url?
|
| just passed 70-210,the passing score is 540 out of 1000 max
lot of questions will go about networking
y am a outsider and found it hard but when you are in the it its a piece of cake?

Congratulations on your pass!!

| Hi jellodk,
Besides the few "Microsoft weirdness factor" questions that caught me a little off-guard, the test was fairly very straight-forward (IMHO) but it does cover alot of Win2k concepts and is not one to be taken too lightly.
However, the pass mark is so low (540) that you will probably have no problems passing the exam.
Concepts covered on my exam when I took it back in September where:
Permissions - Share and NTFS
Sysprep
RIS
DNS
RAS
Multilink
Smart Cards
Gereral Networking concepts (Routers, Gateways,etc..)
Compression / Encryption
Folder redirection
Offline Files / synchronization
Driver signings
Security Policies
Roaming profiles
Installer packages and transforms (.msi, .mst)
Printers
GPO's, OU's
Language Input locales
Accessability Options
Probably snagging a decent test prep engine or study guide to prepare you for the type of questions you'll likely encounter would be the only other item you might need.
Good luck in your studies. |
