| What's that old saying? Oh yeah "you're never to old".
I found the hardest part was getting the first job without having to have 1-2 years experience. Once you get that first job there will be no stopping you!!

If you were here I`d smack ya
Just kidding.
I`m 37 and got my mcp at 35 and came into this field after working a barber shop for 18 years.

| I was 45 when I did it. Took a hobby that I've had since the 70's and turned it into a career. Best thing I ever did. | |

| Wow! with this kind of encouragement from all the guys, you can be sure that you are on the correct path. I am somehwere around your age and had my first certification ie. MCP three years back and i still have got a very long way to go. With a bit of hard work, i am sure in an years time you can catch up with the best in the industry.
It is never too late, all the best and good luck.

| I was 19 when I got my first NT 4 MCP, but now I'm 23 and i just got Win2k Pro outta the way. I'm hoping to take Server by the end of January. You're never too old/young in this field i think. | |

| your respond was fantastic. thats exactly right u are never late if the field is about computers.
if we had a time machine and if we could go 10 years past, get the best computer engineer from 1991, he would be a completely dumb computer engineer in year 2001.

| That's a good one Volcano. It's true, technology changes so fast that the only thing that matters is that you keep up with it everyday and everytime it changes. | |

| believe you me, a user that has a question, issue, or problem is not going to give a hoot how old (or young) you are as long as you can resolve their issue.

| well in most cases .. but ive come a cross a lot of users that will not accept help from younger techs, or think they do not know what they are talking bout .. shouldnt be that way .. but we are talking about l.users ..

| Hi guys
I'm a qualified Electronic engineering Tech- I got this qualification when I was 21 (4 years of study), after working in the electronics field for 5 years - which I found utterly boring, I moved over to I.T. in mid 1997-when windows 95 and windows NT 3.51 were in full force. I got my A+, Network+ and MCP in 1999 before my 29th birthday and my MCSE shortly after turning 29. I'll turn 30 soon and i'm busy with MCSEW2K. The only problem I've encountered in my situation is finding another job since I've been with the same company now for 8 years and can't seem to move up or out because of limiting factors in my country which I don't want to mention, But persistance counts and hopefully will move on to better pastures soon.

| 10 years as a fitness instructor.. body gave up so career change was needed at 30. Always have had in interest so went for the MCP 70-210 first time pass then straight into a Support job that was 6 months ago ready for the server exam now and looking for a new position. If i can do it!!! | |
| volcano 2002-01-04, 11:06 am |
| you can do it buddy. go for it! | |
| PotatoHead 2002-01-04, 12:29 pm |
| Well I'm 19, studying for the 210, hope to pass it by end of January before i turn 20. | |

| I agree with everyone!!!!!
Breaking into the industry is the hard part. If your in it to make loads of money - forget it, those days have passed. I'm 31 and started when I was 27, after dabbling for a few years. If you want a worthwhile career with great prospects and retraining every damn week almost, I can't think of a better job and the best thing is you can take this career to any place in the world. We need to improve the status of MCSE that means we need a collection of professionals who care about the job first not the money........(hey,don't get me wrong the money does help!!!)

| When I get my first certification I was 23 , but I think that the important is since how old you play games with a computer , that what can learn really a lot .
When I start playing ?....I was 4 , it learns me relly a lot.
Good luck for your first experience!!
|
| I'm 30 and just starting into IT. Better late than never! | |
