| Hi i got a problem with my pc and not sure what to do. I installed windows 2000 pro about 2 weeks ago and every thing was running smooth. Until last night, i installed Adobe illustrator 9.0 and Nero burning. After i rebooted, when my desktop came up the screen went black &white.
I was thinking it was a problem with the new software, so i uninstalled the programs. Still B&W
There was no problems with my video card, but thought if i uninstall and install the video card it could fix it. still B&W
Cold boot , warm boot still B&W
In Display, setting i get color in 256 mode
But B&W in True color(32 bit) and High color(16 bit). As you may guess i don't want to leave my pc on 256 colors.
I get full color when i boot my pc(Windows 2000 logo, password screen) but as soon as the desktop comes up it changes from color to black n white.
Hope someone can understand this or maybe give me some tips to fix the problem.
Thank you & Take care

| This is a weird one. You might want to try flashing the video card bios. Check the video card manufacturers website and see if they have a tool for this. I have used such tools on apparently dead video cards and they have came back full force. Are you sure the card can support those colors with win2k?
Try reinstall of win2k. Most color problems I have encountered were due to a bad monitor but it does not sound like this is the case.
Hope I helped a bit let me know how it goes.

| Do you have more than one profile options when you boot up it is possible the software created a profile your monitor or video card doesnt like.
You could boot up to the w2k cd and use the erd to correct this without totally reinstalling windows.
|
| Have you tried booting into safe mode and re-installing the drivers for the video card?
Just an idea.
Good luck | |

| I would take my suggestion. It is easy and will not cost anything but a moment of your time.I would also check Adobe's website for any known issues and updates.Let me know.
