| Two quick questions:
1. I was wondering what the difference was between a system drive and a boot drive?
2. I know RIS servers use Single Instance Stores. Can somebody explain to me in English what exaclty that is?
Thanks in advance! | |

| system volume (drive) The volume(drive) that contains the hardware-specific files needed to load Windows 2000. The system volume(drive) can be (but does not have to be) the same volume(drive) as the boot volume(drive).
Think that, if you have 2 operating system installed in your computer (for example Win98 and Win2KPro) you have to first install win98 and then install Win2KPro. When you installed Win98 into your C: drive it writes to the boot sector of your HDD and after you installed Win2KPro into D: drive it places some files into the C: drive and also writes to the boot sector. So, your system drive is D: and boot drive is C:. You can choose which operating system to use after booting your machines you can see Operating System Selection Screen. |
