| Hi,
I had a good windows 2000 professional running on my box with two cdroms, one of which is a cd writer from HI-VAL. The CD writer software that came with it wasnt compatible for windows 2000, so I installed Adaptec's Easy CD Creator, it was a beta version and couldnt get it to work. So I uninstalled the Easy Cd software. Since then windows doesnt see my CDROMs. They show up in the device manager with a yellow icon. When trying to double click I get the following error..
There is a registry corruption code 19.
Anyone ran into similar problems and has a clue for this.
Appreciate any help.
TIA

| DId you make a backup of the registry ? If so, you can go into Registry restore mode of windows 2000 and replace the current registry, as it looks as though its a major problem you have there ! | |

| Remove the drive in Win2k. Power off. Remove the drive from box. Restart Win2k to see the error has gone. If so, power off. Reinstall the drive to the box and start Win2K and let it detect and install the drive again.
Hope this help. | |

| Thanks for the replies.
I haven't made any registry backup. So this avenue is closed.
Regarding the removal of devices, yes I uninstalled the software, devices ,shutdown the computer removed the drives ,restarted the machine, then shut it down again and fixed the drives. I still cant see the drives. The same error message appears.
Any other workarounds ? | |

| I had a problem but it was with the ASPI Drivers. It wouldn't let anything burn. Here Read up on the file I uploaded. It may help you, it may not but worth a try. | |

| You could also try to restart the box, hit F8 at boot, and select the "Last Known Good Configuration".

Since he tells us he is unable to see the new CD writer I take it he has successfully logged in. After a successfull login the "last known good configuration" is identical to the current configuration. So it wouldn't help to use it
This could be on the exam...
