| what did you guys use to study and prepare for the exam prior to failing it? I havent taken it yet and I want to really be ready to avoid failing it and study as much as i can get my hands on. | |

| I used the SmartCertify system. NOTHING I studied was on the exam. When I called 'em to complain, they told me that I HAD to call them BEFORE I registered for the exam (apparently, at that point, they try to sell ya additional software...from what other people at this board have told me). They are, IMO, just another scam outfit. I'm now using the Allen Carter book, the Microsoft info site, AND all sites recommended by the fine citizens of this "community".

| no offense but using just one tool was poor judgement.
smart certify is just a bonus to studying. not the only thing. you wont get any where doing that. even they tell you this. they have cbt, 24hr support but you need to get hands on experience. if you cant you need to read at least one fat book, either sybex or microsoft. otherwise you are screwed for sure.
but when you get out and read one or both of their books make sure you get your hands on transcenders and troytech practice exams and drill them in your head until you can pass them at 95% or better each time and know your stuff. this isnt a test you can memorize answers to, if you dont know your shit you will fail each time. | |

Vtinegirl....no offense taken. I appreciate your input. Yes, it may have been "poor judgment" to rely on SmartCertify as my only source....BUT, they did NOT mention that in their sales pitch. Instead, they promised that, if I used their software and passed all of their tests, I would have "no problem" passing the MS exams. They DID mention their online support but they also said that if I passed their tests during my prep-work, I "wouldn't even need the online support".
Oh well...hindsight, as they say, is 20-20. I will go into the next exam with my eyes wide open. :-) |
