Question for the guys who passed.

|
| I have passed both NT4 W/S and Server exams and i am currently studying for the W2K Pro.
My Question is that a lot of the core basic Microsoft methodology around NT4 w/s seems to be carried over into 2000 pro, is the only difference between these two, in the navigation of the operating system. I am aware of the fact that IIS and Active directory support is standard in 200 but the rest seems very simalar.
Any guys feel the same way after taking the test or am i awaiting a big surprise in my study schedule?

| Actually there is more than just new menu's etc...With the addition of new Installation rollout packages (ie MSI, MST packages), RIS, Drivers signing, the addition of Dynamic Disks and mounting volumes v/s mapping them, along with disk quotas...you can see that there is plenty of new features to study, and this is just brushing the surface. There's a new command console, and a new way to make a boot disk. I hope this helps answer you question. Good Luck! | |

| Thanks for replying.
It just seems that the learning curve for 2kpro isnt as steep as the first NT exam i did.
But obviously there are many new features to sink my teeth into.
Cheers. | |

| Please, don't walk into the 210 exam with that attitude. MS will thank you for your donation and will see you again for your next visit. MS is accentuating the newer features in Pro and AD with 2k Srv. Doing some reading on AD and 2k Srv wouldnt hurt before you take this exam.
Know the RIS section and those questions become easy points. Understand--don't memorize--the concept of subnets and basic routing. Like the OSI model, you need this in other exams. Understand the Group Policy and new security features (EFS, IPSec, Local Security).
It is more involved than Wkst 40 but there is more reward to it. When you pass, you will have a basic understanding of how the 2000 Pro machine functions alone and within the 2000 AD Infrastructure.
TIP: Don't be intimidated and don't take it too lightly. It's a fair exam. Be prepared. There are enough questions to put you at the door of the red line. GOOD LUCK!!!

| There is a big diff between the two. You will be paying for it again if you have that perspective. 2000 Pro is just so much more robust than Workstation 4 ever dreamed of being. Get ready for this test! I even found 70-215 to be easier, but that is debatable too! Good luck | |

| Cheers guys i stand corrected.
Looking forward to understanding the new features and support.
I have just set up a W2K network at home (server & pro) and find active directory to be something else. Also trees and forests?
Thanks again for the advice. |
