I wonder if anyone can help me. This question involves an NT server environment. I have 4 machines networked at home. NT server and win 98 on the 3 workstations. I'm relatively new to the field but I built the entire network from the ground up.Everything is working great except I have one workstation(98), that will not allow remot access. It's unbelievable. I have all the networking components configured the same as the other workstations, and yet it will not allow remote access. I am phrasing my problem as is, because it I can see and access the rest of the network(including a network printer). It's the strangest thing. I used event viewer to try and get and idea of what was going on. My conclusion is that there is a configuration which is not allowing remote access(This computer was used b/4 and I didn't whack this hard drive because it had 98 on it. I should have anyway, to protect from viuses.I tried the registry, network properties. I thought I had it when I went into passwords in control panel and saw "enable remote access", but the radio button was already checked. Can anyone tell me what the heck this is all about

Is your "Not Allow remote access" means that the shared files in your Windows 98 is not accessible from other workstation via your Local Area Network? or it mean you cannot browse the Win98 computer using the Network Neighborhood. If so what protocol are you running at the Win98? Are you logon to any domain from that Win98? Is the workgroup same with the domain? Please me know your answer, probably I can help if it is the master browser related problem.

Thanks for responding.I believe it may be a browser conflict as well. Not sur how to handle it. Tried diabling master browser in file and print sharing. To clarify, I can see this workstation in network neighborhood, and at this workstation I can access all other stations resources. But from other stations, I can't access this problem stations resources. I see it, but can't connect. I get a" no domain server to logon to". message from the other workstations. From the server I get a " unexpected network error" message.
Thanks

Check whehter your file sharing is share level or user level, if user level, check wither what security domain the system refer to, it might be setup to refer to a domain that is no longer in your network or an Netware server that is not exist either.

Hey Penang,

I checked everything 10 times including user level sharing and domain. I whacked the drive today, reinstalled 98, and it works fine now. Weird, huh? any way , Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. By the way, congratulations on proffessional, and good luck on server.
