Hi all,

I am currently studying for this test and alot of post that I see regarding how hard it is usually ends up with someone saying " its not hard if you know your stuff".. I think that this is probably true for any test....and this should be the goal of obtaining a cert.. to KNOW your stuff. My goal in studying for and taking and passing this test is to : 1)learn the product 2)earn and MCP cert... I know some people who have passed it and they said it was easy ( because they really knew the product).......... I am relatively new to the field ( I have A+/NET+ and work as a help desk support guy)... I have been using Win2kPro as my sole OS at home since October... I have been doing the labs in the MOC and New Riders books..... I have Transcenders , Self Test Software, and Exam Essentials practice tests ( which I havent really started doing yet)... My situation is that I feel a little bit scared about taking this test, because of all the horor stories... What I am asking is if I do all the labs in these 2 books, along with my normal daily use of the OS and the aforementioned practice tests, will/should I be ready? By doing the book labs and installing the OS a bunch of times, would this qualify me as " knowing my stuff" ? Reply if you want. Thanks.

Sounds like you "know your stuff..."

I freak out before the exams -- still! To schedule those first ones I played the Monday game. Schedule it on Monday, because on Friday you still have two days to cram and of course you will. When the panics hit on Sunday -- it is too late, you can't cancel.

Take a look through the posted objectives for the exam. Do you know the key concepts for each of those items? If you do then go ahead and tackle it.

Parting thought -- sometimes the people that have the most difficulty are the ones that really know their stuff. They get into the real world mode (because yes, things don't actually work the way Microsoft says). When in that mode they second guess the answers and they fail!

Good Luck and SCHEDULE THE EXAM!

A wise MCSE once told me:
During the exams, there are 4 answer choices:
1 or 2 are definitely wrong
1 is the Right answer
1 is the Microsoft answer

The nervousness is as much a part of Microsoft's tests as the questions. That's why you should always take your time and read through each question and the possible answers before making your choice. That's also a reason the questions are "wordy."
Go through the material and study guides, use some flash cards for questions, and above all take your time. You'll be fine.
