Hi,

I am getting ready to take 70-210 and have a question regarding the Transcender practice exams. First, I have read the Shinder book and MS Windows 2000 Admin book, looked at a couple of brain dumps and have pretty decent experience with Win 2K Professional from my job in an IT dept. Anyway, I have taken the Transcender practice exams and scored well on them. How indicative of the real exam are the Transcenders? I have heard that if you pass the Transcenders with 900+, you should have no problem with the actual exam. Is this even remotely true? I don't want any surprises when I take the exam next week. Thanks for your input.

I didn't think that the transcenders were an accurate representation of the actual test. I found the test to be much harder. I only recognized a couple of questions that were on the actual test from the transcenders. As long as you understand the explanations and not memorized the questions, you should do fine. From what you are saying about your experience in Windows 2000 from you IT department, that will help you out tremendously. Hands on is vital to passing any Microsfot test. Nothing, not even transcenders, can be a substitute for hands on.

I'm not concerned with the questions on the exam being verbatim to those on Transcenders. I'm more interested in the questions being similar in format, context and difficulty. I think that I'm fairly well prepared, but I guess I was looking for a gauge as to just how well prepared I am. I work with Win 2K everyday and I honestly have never had some of the scenarios that I see in the test prep exams come up in my job. I'm probably just being paranoid for no good reason.

Let me put it this way. I used the transcenders quite a bit for 70-210, and I was consistently scoring around 860-900. I brushed up on the areas that I felt weak in, went to go take the test and was in for a big surprise when I saw my score. I'm not talking good either, I mean just squeaking by with a pass. Thats why I said they are not a good representation of the actual test. Overall I found them to be an excellent learning material, but they didn't help out as much as I thought they would.

I have used trancenders, Self-test, Microsoft Official Practice tests, examcram, all you would need to know.

You know what I have found?
The practice tests at this website that only have 12 questions in them. They appeared in the test. None of the questions from the practice exams I got were in the test.

Hard to believe but if you goto a site such as 2000exams.com and do the basic free practice tests. You will find they are so accurate and that the questions will appear exactly the same to the real test itself.

I thought to myself at first aswell - "well I have all these expensive study material practice questions, they should help" in reality they did not appear in the exam. Just try using the practice tests at this site or at 2000exams.com and you will find alot of the questions in the test.
