| Hi there, puzzled by this question.I think the answer should be "Read" but they say "Allow Modify".Isn't it the most restrictive permissions that apply? Please shed some light on this for me.
Thanks
Evan
Q: A user named MarkH is a member of the Sales group,The Managers group and the User group.
The Payroll group has the following NTFS permissions.
MarkH - Read
Marketing - Full Control
Sales - Read & Execute
Managers - Modify
Users - Not specified
What is the effective NTFS permissions for MarkH?
|
| I believe group permissions take precedence over user permissions.

| Permissions can be a little tricky. Here is how they work. You have two kinds of permissions. Share permissions and NTFS permissions. If you are a member of multiple groups which have different levels of access:
Shared the least restrictive applies.
NTFS the least restrictive applies.
When you combine Shared and NTFS permisions on a resource, the most restrictive wins.
|
| Mark H. would have the Read access. This is the most restrictive of the stated permissions. When you combine NTFS and Share Permissions, the most restrictive applies. |
