| When I install WINS AND DNS can I give those services my win 2000 advanced server IP address? Do I have to do anything more when setting up these services? | |

| Hi
Hopefully you plan on having the w2k machine act as the dns and wins server; Therefore you would use the ip address of the w2k machine as the dns and wins addresses. The address of the dns, dhcp and wins server needs to be a static address. | |

| If you are running WINS, you need to make sure that the server it is running on is also a WINS client. If you don't, it won't register itself in the wins database, and you won't be able to access the server by netbios name. For DNS, by default, all DCs will add their SRV records to the DNS database. DCs know where a DNS server is, as they had to query one at time of promotion. |
