Guys,

For the exam what is the minimum required for win2k.

Cramsession has it as 32mb, examnotes has it at 64mb.

WHAT will MS accept as correct in the exam??

Thanks in advance

It is indeed 64RAM for minimum. You can see the corrections to the MS Press book on the MS Site. Article ID: Q257958

I guess that explains why my wife K6-2/333 with 32meg ran so slow, even after upgrading to 96MB, there was notice a great increase.

The minimum for W2KPro is 64megs. If the answer ever arises choose 64. I have not been able to install Pro on anything less.

I guess I got unlucky because it will install over and over again for my at 32MB but the system is obnoxiously slow.

dentonb2000 I wonder how you even got it to go on that. I had a compaq 133 with 32 megs and it wouldn't install. Got errors and just shut me out. But I have heard at work that a few of the techs run it on 133's with 32 and it is just terribly slow. Alot of overhead with this OS. But I find it better than any I have ever worked with before.

Alright I just looked this up to make sure. This is right out of Sybex. 133Mhz with 64 megs of RAM and a 2G HDD with 650 free space on it. I also have the Exam Cram and it states the same.

Again, when I started studying for the 70-210 exam, the refences that I had said 32MB (Official MS Press book). The book has since been revised to reflect the correct specs. My point is, my laptop at the time only had 32MB in it with a 333mhz cpu and the install was fine and it would run, albeit, slow.

TEHO
YMMV

It may also depend on the release version you are installing. I installed no problem on a P100 with 40 meg Ram. Again, very slow, but it installed and walked flawlessly for 3 weeks. I installed the evaluation copy MS sends with their MOC. A fully registered version might have restrictions written in that the eval copy didn't.

See I have only used the full version. I wonder if htat has anything to do with it. I wonder by hands raised how many people are using the Eval copy as opposed to the full retail version.
