To create a set of Setup boot disks, do you run Makeboot.exe or Mkboot32.exe from the Bootdisk folder on the Windows 2000 CD-ROM?

I believe you would use the Mkboot32.exe
in a 32 bit os and the Makeboot.exe in
dos. Hope this helps!

Makeboot.exe is a 16-bit DOS application that runs on MS-DOS, 16-bit operating systems like Windows 3.11, and Windows 9x. Makebt32.exe is a 32-bit application that runs on Windows NT and Windows 2000.

This is my reason for asking "16 bit OS like Win 3.11 and Win 9x"?

Win 9x is 32 bit.

Or have I left something out?

You can create the bootdisks by opening the bootdisk folder on the CD-Rom and execute either makeboot.exe or makebt32.exe

If you are running in a Dos enviroment or windows for workgroup then use makeboot.exe, if you running in Win95, Win98, NT, or 2000 then use makebt32.exe

Hope this helps

That, Kjones is what I thought in the first place. The Technet paragraph quoted above seems to state something different.

By the way, Kjones, I was at your forums and wanted to register to spread my ignorance even over into your site but at first I got the error "username taken" who dares call themselves TREBOR and then "email address taken" then I gave a different email address and got this,
"Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'

Server.CreateObject Failed

/kjones/inc_mail.asp, line 155

Any ideas?

Sorry I forgot to say at the specified address is only

"Sorry, there is no microsoft.com Web page matching your request.
It's possible you typed the address incorrectly, or that the page no longer exists. "
