Hello all..I am debating a conflict and sure could use some help!..I recently installed XP coporate edition on my computer..got rid of 2K cause I thought XP ran smoother..my problem is..can I learn from that OS to be able to pass my MSCE in 2K..seems similiar enough, I haven't found much differences yet..if it is different enough to keep me from learning, I will reinstall 2K...

I tryed dual booting...biggest mess I ever tried..spent hours trying to get the boot loader to work correctly..loaded 2K first then XP..didn't work, so prayed and tried it vice versa, no luck..by them my hard drive is so fragile I have to handle the sucker like a newborn..but if the differences are big enough, I will reload 2K..seemed to run faster anyway....

Sorry to hear that....
I did it on a old Pentium II 300 with only a 8.0 gig harddrive...(128 megs Ram)
Shouldn't really give you a problem if you load Win2000 first and leave some unpartitioned Space...hmmmmm

Any Suggestions,anyone?

I have a P-3 with 512 megs of RAM and a 7.5 gig hard drive...I would like to dual boot instead of loading just one os..anyone have a suggestion or a link to a site with instructions?
When I loaded 2K first, the XP, my bootloader got messed up and it couldn't find the OS's and partitions...

i formatted my hard drive
then i installed w2k pro first
out of the 40 gb free space, i created a 15 gb partition and installed it in there
so i had 25 gb free space
i installed xp in a second 15gb partition
then w2k server in the remaining space
i did the same with 3 computers that have different hardware and it worked out good each time
but u need to empty the drive and start from scratch

okay..I got it..I put the @K setup diskettes in..ran through it and deleted XP and made a new partition and intalled it there..installed 2K..then when it was done, while running in 2k, I put the XP disk in and installed the OS from there..went to advanced options, specified and made a partition..did a quick format so I wouldn't wait a year and 3 days for it..viola, everything works like a charm..I think my mistake last time was booting from the XP cd instead of starting it while in 2K..why that wouldn't wourk I'll never know..unless it overwrites the ntloader, ntdetect.com, and boot.ini files..anyway who cares, I can study for my mcse while using some of the better programs XP has built in(cd burn captability, ect)..thats all for your suggestion!
