| Buy a crossover cable and just connect two network cards to it or buy a cheap hub | |

| Well, if you tried using a direct cable, did you go into the network properties on both computers to set up the connection? | |

| good question obeid
i have the same problem
i have two W2KP connected both by direct cable (to practice) got the connection to work(both PCs signed and start the connection) , but did not see any files from the host PC?
i shared the disk ,files, drivers, the whole thing , still do not see the files on the host PC (when i do it with a 98pc it works and see files from my win98 pc , not the w2kp)
any idea guys? | |

| Right click on My Network Places and click on Properties.
Double click on Make New connection.
Choose the option to connect directly to another computer with a direct cable (serial or parallel). If the computer will host the connection, then choose Host. If the computer will be accessing another, then choose Guest. Complete the rest of the wizzard.
Perform the same steps on computer 2, but make sure that you choose the oposite (Guest or Host) than what you picked for computer 1. | |

| ok ...
it works for me now
1- remove all things you did.
2- click on ComputerA and click on Network Card (thant network card connected to other compute with at least cable) then assign and ip address such as: 10.10.10.1
for that network card ...
3- do have some folder or partition on sharing to everyone (then later you change it to who you need)
Now go to the other compter computerB
1- give you network card different ip address try to be in the same subnet mask such as:
10.10.10.2
and put some folder on share to everyone
Both computers need to have differnet name and both have to have same workgoup name
resatart you computers and you should be able to see each other ...
reply to me if it works or not .
good luck ...
Now can you tell me how you connect 2 computers one with 2000Pro and other with 98.
Bye and good luck
