| passed the exam friday, didn't exactly set the world on fire, only got a 740 but i didn't expect anything great considering i only studied a couple of weeks for it. Wanted to get out of the way quickly so I can get down to the nitty gritty and start working on 216 and 217. Main study materials were exam cram, the resource kit, and transcender. I had taken 70-215 first and scored a 920 on that one...I can confirm the rumors that 210 is significantly more difficult than 215. now it's onto the dreaded 70-216.... | |

| Nice job! I bet you are relieved! I can't wait to get this first MCSE test out of the way just so I can relax a bit. I am a man possessed right now, studying and reading constantly. Unfortunately, where I work, we are still on NT 4 and I don't get much hands-on other than on a machine that I have installed at home. I can administer NT 4 without problem, but obviously Win2000 is a much broader beast.
What are your thoughts on the test? Was it averagely easy? Were the questions tricky? Any suggestions?
Congrats! Good luck on your quest!!

| Captain,
I would have to say 50 % of the questions were straightforward and the other half were kind of tricky....a few real long scenario based questions. Alot of matching type of questions, although those weren't too hard.
i noticed alot of questions about redirecting home directories, user profiles, user locales and language settings...there weren't many on disk management but then again there were a ton of those on the server exam. The transcender tests were good at covering the material, although I thought the actual exam questions were harder which suprised me...Usually transcender are just as hard if not more difficult. the Exam cram book was very good, if I had more time to study I'm sure I could've scored in the upper 800's or low 900's...the book seemed to cover everything on the exam and didn't have many errors that I saw.

| oh..one more thing, there were alot of questions on unattended installations and RIS...When it comes to the RIS questions, alot of them dealt with a routed network where the network routers were not rfc-1542 compliant....so the answer for that one would be adding DHCP relay agents as needed...and questions about trying to start the RIS service, but installation would fail because the network cards didn't have a pxe-compatible boot ROM.
hope this helps alittle....
overrall, as long as you keep at it and study according to all of the objectives, you should do fine. It's not as easy as 70-215 but the 540 passing mark makes it tough to fail.

| Hey thanks a lot for the info. I am getting to this point where my brain feels like it is melting. It seems like there is so much material to cover, kind of like there is no end. I am using the Exam Cram and I really like it. I used it for the Net+ and it was great! I really appreciate your help and advice. I am planning on taking the exam in the next 2 weeks, but I am getting nervous. Thanks again and good luck in the coming tests! | |
