I have a W2000 box that I added to our domain but I can't get in to the machine now. User is setup on the NT Server, I setup her W2000 box up to see the network, added her to the domain. I rebooted and can't get in. I know it is not her drop because I pulled another computer in and the other W2000 box can sign on to the network in her room.

Any thoughts?

Are you trying to log in locally (by accident) or are you choosing the <domainname> from the drop-down on the Logon prompt? Sometimes, if you aren't paying attention, you can overlook that.

If that's not the case, can you log on there using the admin acct? Or any other?

Did you check the Network Cables? Is there a "link" light????

Hi coop,

The first thing I'd do is to try and log into the local machine under the local administrator account as opposed to trying to logon to the domain. As long as you know the local administrator account password you should be able to logon locally to the workstation to start troubleshooting things.

Once logged on locally to the workstation, I'd then attempt to check things out from a networking standpoint. Run ipconfig /all and see what is getting assigned to the nic. You could try doing an ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew to see if the workstation can contact the DHCP server and get the proper IP configuration settings. (Assuming you are running a DHCP server) If not, make sure your static IP settings look correct.

If that looks good, start pinging away at things on the network and see if you get responses.

If things check out with that, attempt to join the workstation to the domain again and see what happens.

Just a few ideas I'd try in the begining to see what the heck is going on.

Hop this helps some.
