| Hi Guys, I'm stuck at a crossroad. I have noticed most of you are Net+ Certified. Is it really necessary or should I skip it and move on to W2K? I've heard pro's and con's for both. It just doesn't seem to me that Net+ is as valuable. Please help. Thanks! | |

| If you have experience with networking than you can skip it. I didn't have Net+ also | |

| Studying for the N+ will give a good understanding of TCP/IP & basic networking, if your strong in those areas go for the MCP if not I would recommend the N+.
Good Luck! | |

| Get both. | |

| A basic understanding of TCP/IP, IP addresses, Subnet masks, Gateways, and Routers is all you need for the 210 exam. If you've got that then you could take 210 and pass, if you don't, then you could still take 210 and pass, you'd just have trouble with the 4-6 questions that cover those topics on the exam. I think I got about 5 or 6 questions on the 70-210 that required basic TCP/IP understanding.
Taking and passing Net+ first will not "make or break" your ability to pass the 70-210. But ideally taking both would be your best path. Which order you take them is up to you(IMHO)
Good luck to you! | |

| After passing my A+, and looking at MCSE and how intense it is, and not having a lot of networking experience, I did my Network+ first. It gives an overall good grounding before jumping into the MCSE deep-end. I have now started studying for the MCP (70-210)and have found the Network+ a help in understanding. So, I guess the moral of this story is, without experience in networking, the Network+ first is the way to go.
That's my recommendation...it's working for me. | |

| I agree that it is worth it.
Plus, A+ and Network+ count as the elective requirement for the new MCSA certification! |
