Author Dual Boot vs. Updating

I have read that if you install Win2K in the same dir as the current OS then the setting and applications will be taken over but if you install it in a diffferent directory you will be able to dual boot.

But when another OS is on the System you get an error message by the installation (SU0168 I believe) which tells you there is already an operating system present please go buy the upgrade. Are you forced to go buy the upgrade or delete the old OS?

If you are installing while you are in an OS, it wants to upgrade. If you boot into a setup, you usually have a choice of upgrading (if there is an existing) or installing. If you install into the existing OS system, you are upgrading. If you install into another folder, you are installing a second OS. Depending on the OSs, you might have to make some boot changes in order to dual boot.

Bottom line read the instructions/research the installation options.
