Author Just a Quick Question? Please Help

Hey everyone,
I am newly registered on this forum but I have been reading everyones posts for a while. Here is my question, I am currently A+ certified and now I am preparing for my Network plus and 70-210/70-215 tests, I am currently attending New Horizons computer learning center. I have taken the Network plus class and the 2 of the 7 Microsoft classes. In everyones opinion/experience should i take the N+ first then the 70-210/70-215 or take the Microsoft tests. I just wanted to get some feedback from people who have done this already to see which test is "better" to take first. Thank you everyone in advance!

Gxsp-
I was in the same situation during last summer. I work as a network admin (3+ yrs.) in the Bay Area. I decided to finally take some exams and actually did mine backwards. I took the Network + exam first then the A+ (passed both). I also ended up taking the Network Essentials exam (70-58) hoping to pursue the NT 4.0 track before the end of the year, but too much craming. It brought back cold sweats of college all over again!

As things look right now, I've decided to pursue the MCSE 2000 track, starting with Win2K prof (70-210), then Win2KServer, etc.
I know my NT pretty well, so for me the 70-210, then 70-215 exams seemed natural. I happen to think the Network + exam is a good one to have. It shows you have working knowledge of networks and this seems to be listed in job postings (i.e "working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, etc").

I hope this helps. Good luck with your exams. This site is an excellent resource for exam help and topics.

I would take the Net+ out of the way first to brush up on your networking knowledge, then move on to Win2K where you will be expected to understand DHCP, WINS, DNS, packets, routing, etc...

Depend on the need and your knowledge.

If u thing u already have strong background on networking. Go for those MCP first, then go back.

If not, go by N+ then MCP...

For MCSE 2000, I will take the N+ first.
For MCSE NT, I will take the MCP first.

I would take N+ first to get a nice cert, and some confidence. This will give you a good understanding of things for any networking test.

i cant say what your experience would be not talking the Net+ first...i do know that having A+ and Net+ has been beneficial for me to since im currently preparing for 70-215...very helpful to be confortable installing hardware and troubleshooting and having good knowledge of the OSI and networking protocols....you would probably get through the MCSE 2000 eventually...but the Net+ should help ease the pain a bit...just my 2 cents...hope it helped
