Evalutation Copies of 2k Server and Pro
|
|
|
| Hello. I know that a 120 day evaluation of 2k server comes with the Microsoft Training kit but where can I get an evaluation copy of 2k Pro. Thanks. | |
|
| I am pretty sure that if you hit the Microsoft web site you can get them to send you an evaluation copy.... you just have to pick up the shipping and handling charges. At least I remember reading something to that effect. Hope this helps. | |
|
| I found this link a while back for a free download of advanced server... maybe they have stuff for Pro as well: http://https://microsoft.order-1.com/Win2kEDK/default.asp
By the way, I got mine with the MOC for 2152...

| Me again.... OK candyman, after getting bounced from Microsoft helpdesk to Microsoft helpdesk I recived this "official" answer..... They DO NOT offer the 120-day trial versions for Win 2000 Pro.... You can order everything else under the sun , but not Pro. Damn. I'm gonna try and get it off a friend who got a pile of trials from Technet. Here is the link where you can order all the others though. www.microsft.com/servers/net/enterprise_eval.htm

| Freak,
The official Microsoft curriculum has Win 2k server as the evaluation....NOT Win 2k Pro. That is the reason why I asked the question in the first place. I have the Win 2k Core Pack from Microsoft. It only comes with a study CD and a 120 day evaluation of server.
Thanks Zen for researching the matter. Guess I will just go out and buy one...I have heard very good reviews....I will probably use it as my OS for all my systems. Instead of win98 or winME....just because of the stability and security. Thanks again guys. | |

| actually, I beg to differ. It does come with the MOC for 2152. I have it at the office, and I am teaching this class next month...

| I think the problem is with the term "MOC". The "Microsoft Official Curriculum" is used to teach courses at CTECs and such. I'm pretty sure all of my W2K MOCs came with Advanced Server and Professional evaluation CDs. I know the 2151 I'm teaching now does (I'm looking at it).
I think Candyman is refering to the MCSE Training Kit, or other Microsoft "Official" self-study material.
I think freak is refering to instructor-lead MOC material.
But then again I could be wrong...
Candyman, did your 'MOC' material come in a blue and white notebook with three-hole punched loose leaf pages in it, and modules instead of chapters?

| That is what I put in my orginal note....Microsoft Training Kit...FROM MS PRESS....not the 3rd party vendor stuff. I do not use "other" MOC's other than Microsoft's...I will use the exam crams but for indepth learning purposes - I use MS Press books...its just my preference. I learn through using the software then brush up on the crams just before I take the tests. But back to the question....I meant Microsoft's Training Kit...not another vendor's training kit for MCSE tests...thanks anyhow. | |

| Ahhh, I see. You have the Microsoft Official STUDY GUIDES. Yes, you are right, no W2K Professional in those. The Microsoft Official Curriculum does come with both.
I used the study guides for 210 and 215, but the study guide for 216 is weak. Look at it compared to the others, about a third smaller. The 217 study guide was good.
Good luck,
