Hi,

Congratulations!!

I missed it last week by a few marks (748). I was a bit stunned!!

Giving it again in 2 days - I have no idea whether it will be any different. The good thing is that I will go in with a different expectation, something I lacked the first time.

Wish me luck!! I need plenty of it as you know!!

Hi Mwalie,

You are very near!
Unlease your best shot in this coming round!
You know you can do it!

You are right....it is so close, yet so far because of the way these guys twist their questions.

But I have learned an important lesson: never to take any exam casually, because I should have passed and I know this, with just some extra caution.

Yet here I was, waking up late, thinking that this is just a normal exam like Remote Access and Routing. It was a good lesson and it is going to be very useful.

Talk to you again....TOMORROW!!

Hi Bernard,

Yes, I did it.

I expected to score rather high, because it was very fair today, almost easy.....but just passed barely to my surprise. I even wondered why I did not pass the other time.

Anyway, onto something else!!

Hi,

I am actually just thinking about what to do next....may be you can give me some ideas.

First, I have not yet finished CCDP, only Switching remaining.

Then, I think I have to look at COMPTIA Security+ as well as Wireless Network Administrator from Planet3 Wireless.

I need all this knowledge to complete my CCDP or CCNP, when I get it.

Any idea??

Hey guys, On the CCDA there were four companies that were used for Exhibits/ scenarios. Are there any design scenarios on the CID 3.0?

Was there any AppleTalk, SNA, or IPX? Some people have indicated that Cisco has dropped these in 3.0, but some of the text I've read (Sybex and Cisco Press) seem to indicate oherwise. Maybe these other folks had a good draw from the pool of questions? Please let me know if this was true in both your exams, and if so, did they make up for it with ATM, or other routing protocols?

Thanks,
Mwalie

Hi,

No exhibits, nothing like in CCDA.

NO IPX, Appletalk, SNA.

But!!! Read the CID book in between the lines!!! The way they ask questions is incredible!!!

First time, 748, Second time 776. Wondering why I nearly failed the second time also, I tried revising in the Cisco CID book and I can tell you one thing: very tricky!!

I am lucky to have passed the second time. Not hard, but very tricky. That is why one has to read the book very attentively - the Cisco CID Course Book by Birkner or whatever he is called.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your help in clarifying the scope.

I passed the CID on Friday, and I agree with everyone else that this one had the most trick-wordings of any of the certification tests I've taken.

On one question, all four answers had about 10 words, and the only difference were the last two to trip you up.

Anyway, I only need Remote Access and Support to finish my CCNP/CCDP quest.

Ever forward!!!

Hello,

Great!!

Congrats!!

I have Switching and Support left - and I have no motivation after finishing CID.

I thought I should do Support first so that I get both certificates together.

I am also thinking of forgetting about CCNP and just get CCDP and then study for CCIP.

I am more interested in knowing the technologies rather than running a network on day-to-day basis (due to the nature of my job), so I really do not need CCNP.

But CID was very useful!

All the best.

Switching was not very difficult, for what it's worth. Having been a hiring manager, the more proffesional level certs one has, the more attractive they are to be hired. You may not need it now, but what about tomorrow, two months, or two years down the road?

If you're not going to work for an ISP, telecom carrier, or a large enterprise with huge Internet pipes, I wouldn't waste my time on CCIP (personally, that's why I'm avoiding it).

If you want to learn the QOS, MPLS, and advanced BGP technologies (and pass their tests), then go for it!

What's the worst that can happen - you don't pass one on the first try, right?

Have a great day!

Hello,

Thanks.

You have said it very correctly.

May be I should persevere and get this CCNP also - I am realizing that getting these certifications requires a lot of effort actually (especially for people without actual hands on experience).

Plus, you are right: I really want to know the issues about QoS, MPLS and Advanced BGP. The catch is that if I buy a book and study just casually, I do not make any progress. But if I begin preparing for certification, then I get to know the book much much more.

All said, certification is very serious business....you read books until you get tired!

Good Day.
