| Just finished the CCDA exam with 873/1000, and had a few thoughts on the way:
Having got my net+ I decided I needed some knowledge of network design techniques. CCDA seemed to be the best option to do next. The Cisco website had them at the same level anyway.
With hindsight though, I would have done the CCNA first. As far as I can see it covers the basics of a lot of the theory in the CCDA exam. The sybex study book recommends it (didn't see that until 2 days before the exam...bit late then!!).
Also,I would really recommend against taking the CCDA without having some other network qualification (or equivalent vocational experience) first. I thought I had picked up most of the networking basics on the net+ exam, but the CCDA seemed to be a real step up.
I'm going to do the CCNA next. I was having a real think about the Server+ exam, and posted a few questions on this site. I am going to leave it until later perhaps, because for now it sounds like a hard certification, and I have seen no job advertisments where it has been quoted. I wouldn't mind knowing more about servers though!
Anyway, good luck to all those taking it. Make sure you know all the material in the study guides, you are going to need it.... |
