if a question has multiple answers, does cisco specify how many (i.e. "Select 3 answers), or are you totally on your own?

I think you always get the number of choices.

I didn't see "check all that apply" on either CCNA or CCDA (and I took the latter recently).

Best of luck to you.

dammit. this was way tougher than i had expected. got a 742/825. a lot of questions on which routing protocol to use in given situations. guess it's back to hitting the books.

A lot of these are very simple, so these would be the ones I hopefully got right. Some of them I put ? marks next to the answer as I’m not 100% sure what the answer is. If anybody knows the answers, please help me. Without breaking the NDA, these are VERY good examples of questions I saw yesterday. There was only 1 or 2 IPV6 questions, a LOT on SAFE, very little on VoIP, one long network analysis with 4 questions on goals, restraints, etc. There was one question on how to make Layer 2 switching faster, the options were: Express Forwarding and 3 others, which I can’t remember the acronyms for. Does anybody have any idea on this one? I studied for about 3 weeks using the Cisco Press and Sybex books (Cisco is better) and a week before the test, I practiced with v4.99 Boson and Testknig. I aced the Boson test with 256 questions, so those of you who think you can pass by cheating are in for it. The tests help, but you definitely have to know the material. All in all, I should have passed, but I’ll be better prepared next time.

The Smith and Jones Company (S&J) is a law firm in New York City. They recently signed a merger agreement with another firm on the other side of the city. The employees of the other firm will be moving into S&J’¨s building. They will occupy two floors in the building. They will bring with them email, file servers and an advanced
web-based legal database system primarily accessed at the office. The partners of S&J would like to upgrade their network before the new employees move into the building. They want you to make their LAN “as fast as their WAN”. You must also design enough capacity to accommodate the new firm whose users are more technically advanced. S&J would like to adopt VoIP throughout the combined company. Lastly, S&J wants to make sure that network security measures are in place for the new firm’s web site and e-mail servers. They have been very frustrated by Internet-based viruses. They want to make sure that no hackers can access their servers from the Internet. Damn...what did you do? Write down half the test and take it with you?
ihopeipass

2003-10-31, 1:15 pm

no. i have sample questions from boson and test king and the ones on the actual test were identical to the ones they provided. immediately after the test, i went over the questions and marked the ones i saw on the test. the other 22 questions weren't covered by boson or test king or real lengthy description of a network and you had to select business goals, technical restraints, etc. which pissed me off because there were 4 questions to that scenario, but i accidentally clicked on "next" instead of clicking on #2-#4. so i missed 3 questions just from that. i'm going to read up some more and hopefully take it again next week. i'm not trying to help people cheat, but more give people a head's up as to what to expect and to be prepared.

I did the same thing on the testlet! Clicked "Next" and sacked three questions just like that.

I hope ARCH is saner than this test; I don't even want to wander back into this odyssey of ambiguity until I see a definitive Exam Guide from Cisco Press.

Here's the excruciating parsing of the tecnical/business goal/contraint concepts as I understand them.

If it's personnel you're lacking, it's a business contraint, unless it's technical personnel, in which case it's a technical constraint.

If it's high network availability you're after, it's a technical goal; high application availability would be a business goal.

If your lack of high network availability is due to legacy hardware or a thin-straw WAN link, it's a technical contraint; if it's due to budget or policy (e.g., don't let spoke nodes browse the net), it's a business constraint.

Security is of course a technical goal, unless it's executive-mandated (e.g., a particular application needs to be encrypted), in which case it's a business goal.

And on and on. Hurts my head. I figure I might have been better off blowing the testlet, saving my strength for the rest of the test!

Happy Halloween Everybody.

BTW...the CiscoPress book is out. I ordered mine yesterday and it should be here tomorrow or Monday.

no offense taken, guess i got a little defensive. a coworker just got the CiscoPress book yesterday, I wish I had a few hours with that book before I took the test. I think it's the answer to many of our questions/problems.
Robertma

It supplies a lot of the answersbut is lacking in some areas. For instance, there is nothing about what to do to fix some problems in relation to busy-back.
I got mine last Friday and I have had the Sybex book for over a month now.
Unfortunately, I tried the exam without anything except the old CCDA books and it killed me. (I missed the first by 1 question and it just got worse thereafter)

I'll have a look at what I can find out on this site and give it another go later this week (or next week if I chicken)

Assuming you have explanations from the Boson/TestKing, can you tell me what they said about questions 19 and 20 in your post?
19) I thought the idea of a prototype was not testing on a live network?
20) I find that Dig Sig is the only correct answer. Two factor authentication is like using a SecureKey, where you type in a PIN and it gives you a number to feedback to the computer for authentication. Has nothing to do with data integrity?
28) you don't have the answer in the post?
34) A,B,D is right. See the CiscoWorks book by Diane Teare, at least the old one.
36) "Must be contiguous" confuses me. Yes, they should be in order to use summarization, but that wasn't the question, right?
37) E is correct, see page 13 of the Cisco white paper "The ABC's of IP Version 6"
